Term 4 Mandarin by Peter Shao

The great mandarin

Room 5 has been learned a lot things about mandarin. They are fun, we were starting to learn some easy words.

Something special to china:
In china your last name sometimes was the jobs that the first people uses this last name.

In chinese  your name will be opposite in new zealand. Example my name is peter shao in nz, but in china it would be shao peter. My last name in chinese is: 邵子轩
There’s also a game about mandarin. So, one person will be close their eyes and not open. Other people need to saying “ 你好(hello) to the people who closing their eyes. Then this person will think who is this person. Like: 你好conor(hello conor) 你好Kazuki(hello kazuki).

你好(hello)
大家好(hello guess)
老师好(hello teacher)
你叫什么名字? (what’s your name)
我叫.....(my name is…)
Colors:
橙色(orange)
红色(red)
蓝色(blue)
黑色(black)
白色(white)
黄色(yellow)

我(me)
你(you)
你的(your)
他/她(he/she)
这个(it/this)

你喜欢什么?(what do you like)
我喜欢....(I like)

That’s the language that room5 learned. If you  want to practise them you could just watch those.a song

Term 4

Hi everyone

Welcome back to your last term in Year 4.  It will be another exciting, busy term so start thinking about the goals you'd like to achieve to get you ready for year 5!
Be ready to talk about these.

I hope you have all had lovely holidays.

Start thinking about a moment you would like to describe.

Remember that quite simple moments can be transformed into wonderful pieces of writing if you choose great descriptive words and describe in detail.  If you start sentences in different ways, and describe what you saw, heard felt, wondered or tasted  the reader will be able to visualise your moment on their heads.

I was lucky enough to visit Nelson with my two friends, Adrienne and Hans, who came from Switzerland.  Here is my moment on the tramp I did with them.  What have I done well?  What might I need to check or change?  Give me some FEEDBACK  and FEEDFORWARD.

The beautiful beach lay in front of us as we slowly climbed down the muddy track. It seemed like a great place for us to stop. The sun had finally come out and I could hear the waves lapping quietly onto the shore. Finally we sat down on the warm sand to rest and eat. I had been walking for two hours with my friends through the beautiful bush and coastal track in the Abel Tasman Park and we were very ready for food.

As soon as we brought our sandwiches out the gull appeared. The bird stared at me intensely as I began to hungrily eat my chicken sandwich. I started to feel guilty for not sharing my lunch with it but I was so hungry, and I knew I still had another two hours of walking before the ferry picked us up at Anchorage.  With each bite I took it came closer and closer. Its large eyes fixed on every movement I made. I tried to shoo it away but it cheekily stared even harder, almost like it was giving me a challenge! It reminded me of the pigeons in our school playground. No matter what I did it stayed and stayed, ready to pounce on any little crumb that was accidentally dropped on the sand.

After we had finished our food we carefully put our rubbish back in our bags so as not to pollute the beautiful beach.  Slowly we hauled our packs onto our backs and organised ourselves to begin the tramp again. As we headed back to the track the seagull continued to watch us. Its red eyes seemed to be sending us evil thoughts as we trudged back into the bush leaving it alone and hungry.
