Hobbies Inquiries

Last week we had to present our inquiries about hobbies to the class.

 This was a challenge!

We had to:

  •  talk about what we had found out
  • show a slideshow about this
  • answer questions about this when children asked
We learnt a lot about presenting and discovered we needed to:
talk louder.
talk more.
not repeat information on our slides
most importantly, make sure we were finished and really answered the question we were inquiring about.

Here are some photos to show your families.
Post a comment about what you are proud of with this.

Lego is a good hobby to do because it makes your imagination bigger and stronger.

Garden to Table

Garden to Table

This term we are lucky to be able to spend time with Mrs Mardell and Miss Stevenson learning about gardening.  Make sure you check out the Garden to Table blog when it gets started.

Here is the link:  Garden to Table Blog

Thank you to the girls who organised the timetable for collecting food scraps for our worm farm.  You are doing an awesome job.

Here are the photos of us making the special herb bouquets which we  gave to our Mums on Mother's Day.

Can you remember the names of the herbs that were in these?

Please add a comment about something you have learnt or done  at Garden to Table so far.

Make sure you tell your families about this too.

Non - fiction reading

Non-Fiction Reading

This term we are trying to get even better at understanding what we read.

We are focusing on:

  •  Activating our prior knowledge (Thinking about what we already know about a topic before and  while we read )
  • Making Connections  (between what we know and what the text says)

We need to use this when reading fiction texts(stories)

but also non-fiction texts (information)

One of the ways you can practise non-fiction is to read  a news article each week for homework.

Here  is a link to the  KIWI KIDS NEWS website.

You may need to read this with your mum or dad so they can help you understand new words.

Please can you make a comment about an article you have read to tell the class.
