Footnote Dance Week!

Well, another busy week has flown by and what fun we had.  I loved the way you talked to the ERO team about your learning.  They were impressed with everyone in our school.

I also loved the finished World War One recounts.  I will try and scan some for this post on Monday if I have time so you can show your families.

We have begun wondering about our science topic and also how we can explain what is happening in our writing.  Thank you Roman, for bringing a glad wrap cardboard tube for our science.  Please everyone, we need some more!

Thank you to those children who are writing positive comments on this blog, and to those who are doing their homework on their Google drive.  We are all trying to get better at e-learning and this is one way to do it.  You know how this is a challenge for me too!

I also wanted to thank anyone from Room 5 who has done an explain everything maths video.  I loved how you showed me about a strategy you have learnt.  I hope you show your parents too!!!

   Our  Group Performances

I hope you remember these sea creatures and the skills you were learning.

Please post a comment if you can tell the class all of these.

We were very lucky to see the dancers perform for us too.  I loved how they got the whole school to make up a dance at the end.

Cross Country Week!

Well done everyone who participated in our Cross country last week.  I was amazed with the training everyone did, and how you ALL tried to improve on last year's performances.

A special shout out goes  to Remy and Troy who improved so much from Year 3!!  Both of you finished the race.

I would also like to congratulate anyone who managed to get in the top ten placings, and, to those of you that had to do the Year 5-6 cross country at Grey Lynn Park on the SAME day.  You are incredible runners.

If you look closely at the faces of the few photos below you will see how people felt about the day.

I can't wait to read your recounts about this day!

Think about your goal for next year's Cross Country as you will all be going to Grey Lynn Park for this!

Speeches

How are you going?  Only a few people wrote their Hooks in their last week's homework!!!!  You need to work on these each week.

Mrs Malcolm has given our class one more week of Garden to Table so make the most of it.  Thank you to everyone who has posted a comment on our blog.  I love reading your comments.
Are the rest of you showing your family the blog?

A final big thank you to the children who performed at assembly last week.  You were very convincing as TV interviewers and old W.W.1 veterans.  I would also like to thank the rest of the class for writing such good questions and answers for this performance.

Inquiry Presentations

I wanted to congratulate you on your inquiry presentations on Friday.  What a lot of learning went on with this.

  1. You all had important information to share about what you had found out about World War 1.
  2. You all had tried hard with your e-learning to present this in different ways. (Make sure to show your families if they are saved in your Google drive!)
  3. You all had a go at standing up in front of the class to talk to us about this!
Our next step is to write some questions and answers for assembly this week so we can share what we've learnt in an interesting way to the rest of the school.

Speeches and Homework:

Each week we are reminding you what you should be doing at home to get ready for our class speech competition in week 8.

Last week's homework said to write in your topic !  Some of you did not do this.
You need to see me or add a comment to this blog  so I can see what you are researching and writing about.

Garden to Table Update:

I loved hearing all about your learning with Simon last Thursday.  Here are the photos.  Wow! That was a big kumara you dug up!  Please add a comment if you would like to share what you learnt on our blog!

Dear room 5,

I am looking forward to seeing your finished ANZAC Inquiry presentations.  Don't forget that they all have to be ready to share by next Friday.  I am really pleased with the groups that are working well with their teams to get this finished.  Remember this is ako!  Here are some photos of how our class is getting into the ANZAC spirit.
Arabella with her Grandfather's W.W. 1 bugle.

Annabel with the wonderful ANZAC biscuits she made for our class.

Jade with her special lunchbox.

Anna wearing her ANZAC poppy.
It was also great to have the chance at being the first class to go down to the field of crosses,  I loved the special comments that some of our class shared  at this time.

Thank you to Liam, who represented the Year 4 classes at the special ANZAC assembly we had.  It was great to see all our poppies on the letter S.

It was also very special to listen to the Last Post being played by Hugh from the Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra.  It was very sad!

Once again, keep working on your presentations.  Try to share as much information as you can so the others get to learn from you.  One week to go with these!

Thanks
Miss Cowsill

P.S  Don't forget that we are at the end of our time with Simon and the Garden to Table programme.  Start thinking about what you can say in a thank you letter to him.
